From the Archives - Brandy Boy is 2
Monday, March 25, 2013
I was looking for a "Happy Birthday" picture to email to one of my co-workers, so I googled the words and randomly this picture of Brandon came up. I remember taking it. It was the night before he turned 2. He loved wearing these goggles. He was so into tools, ficxing things, and such a happy little boy. I love looking back and finding a picture from the archives. Thinking of you today my little Brandy Boy. xoxoxox

{catching up with old blog posts...}
With a newborn gracing our lives right in the middle of "boy birthday season", I had a hard {and lazy} time planning a big perfectly detailed birthday events for the boys like last year. This year we had an easy double birthday for the boys at a local bouncy house and a small birthday party at home for Brandon on his actual birthday. We celebrated at home with just the "local" grandparents: Booba, Papa Bob, and Papa Ray. Despite the smaller affair we did have balloons, cake, streamers, candles, and presents = One happy Brandon!

A Double Birthday
Thursday, August 11, 2011
{I am trying to catch up on my blog, so some of these happened over a month ago}
Double Birthday Party
Back in May I scheduled a joint birthday party at my house, 3 days before Luke was born. I ended up cancelling it because it was just too much. I was fat, uncomfortable, and our huge 800 lb water slide still hadn't arrived (but it finally did yesterday!!) After Luke arrived, we rescheduled the party at a local bounce house called the "Hoppin' House" and I am so glad I did. We had about 25 kids and their parents for a Sunday morning party. The kids love to bounce and jump in the foam pit. We had cupcakes and pastries and really enjoyed the morning. The boys had fun with their friends, especially seeing their friends from school that they don't see anymore.It was such a fun time, that I am almost convinced to always do birthday parties at a place rather than at home. And I am also anxiously awaiting the time when they are all old enough to just drop them off for birthdays ;)

How creative, is this??
So cute, so simple
I swear, there are so many artsy crafty people out there
{Lacey, Tara, Tiffani, and Jess J!}
This one seemed right up my alley: aka. EASY!
It's a great way to remember what they loved each year and see how their tastes change
and another thing to post to my blog!

2 Year Wellness Check - Brandon
Thursday, July 14, 2011
Dear Brandon,
They said you are so beautiful. {"They" are your Dr's during your 2 year wellness check.} ...and you are.
You have these lush dark eyelashes that contrast against your light blonde hair and make your green grey eyes pop. Even I am jealous of those lashes.
You have these silliest mannerisms that make people smile when you are around: silly head bobs, energetic skipping, how you mimic everything Nicky says or does, your fearlessness and your newly adopted French accent!
In the last 2-3 months, your vocabulary has become limitless. You can say or repeat anything now. You can put about 4 words in a sentence, and are so proud of yourself. It's still sometimes hard to understand what you say, but we've learned to pick up your words. Your favorite thing right now is chocolate milk. But you pronounce it "milky shock o lat". You love to say "I found it", "I did it" . and "No NO Mommy!"
You can count to 12, but we haven't heard you say the ABCs yet. You know some colors, and you know all your animals. You love airplanes, dump trucks, firetrucks, and bunny hops. You LOVE your new kitchen and love to make us tea.
I am sad to see you lose your babiness and morph into a toddler. You are getting taller! Thinning out! You have a long neck and muscles! My baby is growing up!
I recently saw a quote, it said " The tiniest thing I ever put my life into."
That is You.
And Nicky.
And now Luke.
And I mean it. Never forget how special you are. Never forget how much you mean to us. You really are what we put our whole life into, no matter how big
Banjo, Mommy and Daddy are SO sososososososo proud of you, no matter what you do - GOOD or BAD. You, Nicky, and Luke are the reason I became a Mommy.
Here are your 2 year stats:

- Body Mass Index - 60th percentile
- 31 pounds! (OH MY *big* boy!) - 85th percentile

2 Year Wellness Check - Nicholas Abeling
Wednesday, May 19, 2010
Yesterday Nicholas had his 2 year check up and during the check up, we heard things like "persistent", "strong", "demanding", and "gifted". We know most of this, but it was nice to get reassurance from the pediatrician and to realize we are not crazy, terrible parents, out of our minds, etc. We were also told to HOLD OFF the toddler bed due to his unpredictable sleeping habits*.
(*meaning, he won't go to sleep without screaming bloody murder, unless we lay on the floor until he falls asleep. Last night I actually climbed in his crib and sang the "B" song and the new "Chuga Chuga Choo" song. Once he is alseep, he sleeps. Phew.)
Here are his current stats:
He got one vaccine, which resulted in a low grade fever today and him being sent home. (Thank you to our wonderful babysitter Lori, who picked him up from school today while we are at work! xo)
Our Dr. defined gifted as being able to use 3-4 word sentences, understand context and respond, articulate clear words, say his ABC's, count to 20, identify colors, say Buon Giorno (jk, i added that), use the potty and TELL us that he has to go. He made up his first story yesterday (more on that later), and his imagination has kicked in. He is a comedian. He learns and says new words every day. He is pretty athletic and his calfs are developing into true Abeling/Fleming calves. He can catch a ball *sometimes* and has a pretty good arm. He loves to run and kick a soccer ball and is still obsessed with anything with Wheels
He really is pretty smart, I'm not kidding. I don't know what this means yet - we will be talking to the Pediatrician about what to do in the future to help challenge our little man retain and grow his knowledge as he gets closer to school age.
Until then, Nicholas, Mommy and Daddy are SO sososososososo proud of you, no matter what you do - GOOD or BAD. You (and Brandon) are the reason I became a Mommy.
