Summertime Fun

Today is the 41th day of 100+ degree weather. 

The record is 69 days in 1925. 2 years ago, the summer of Brandon,  we had 68. 

We never left the house

This is our June and July 2011

Feel for us

Send us water

As you can se, we are on track to break a 85 year old record. 

Fun for us. 

Our 800lb water slide STILL has not arrived.

So what do we do in Austin when it is hot? 

We get naked, get in our ghetto plastic pool and take pictures!

"NO more pictures, Mom!"

"Seriously mom?"

Sprintime in Abelingland

In Austin as summer approaches, it gets hot pretty quickly.

and STAYS hot.

By March, the dull brown hills and grass start to show signs of green

And the first signs of Spring are the pink blooms from the Texas redbuds trees

and then wildflowers explode in colorful fields perfect for Spring and Easter pictures!

Before the oppressive summer heat comes

everyone is outside to capitalize on our great Spring weather

Springtime in Abelingland IS:

hanging out at the local watering hole with Best buds...

 

enjoying the splash pad....

having to wear mom's sweater after getting soaked at breakfast....

welcoming 2,000 ladybugs to the neighborhood....

and enjoying the new roses....

making compost tea from worm poop....

Mommy doing Income taxes...while someone else sleeps...

 

pulling out the ghetto baby pool....

and of course, getting naked out front...

and showing off HOT new shoes...

and the first bluebonnet in the yard

My Bathing Boy Beauties - 6 Months Later

It's no secret that my boys love the water and are always naked. 

6 months ago was a big milestone for us as parents of two. 

Banjo was able to get in the bath with his big brother. 

Today, 6 months later, not much has changed. 

Except more hair.

My Bathing Boy Beauties

Being a twin, I never questioned why I bathed with my sister. Convenience (for my mom), companionship (for Val and I), and fun (for all of us). I always wanted to sit in the "deep end" which was closet to the faucet, and Val and I would entertain ourselves by making air bubble pockets with washcloths in the bath. As we grew up, we moved to the shower and never stopped the routine. I think looking back its kinda weird we showered through high school together, but whatever we're twins, and we're girls, and we were saving water!

Anyways, the point of this is that Banjo is finally strong enough to sit in a bath, so I put him in with Nicky last night. Success! Now we have 1 bath time, 2 babies and double the amount of fun. Strike that. Despite this picture, Nicky wanted NOTHING to do with Brandon in HIS bath. He kept saying MINE, MINE, MINE and kept asking me to pour a bucket of water over Brandon. B took it all in stride. He adores his big brother.

Last night...

...when Dan drove Val to the airport, Mommy had to do whatever it takes to keep the boys happy. I was surprised how good my picture turned out with 2 slippery babies in the bath all by myself. So I had to share, because they are too cute. (and YES - It's PG people.)
