A Letter from Luke

Friday, March 22, 2013
Yesterday we got this cute little letter from Luke's teachers. Luke is ready for Potty training! at 22 months! We are so excited. At school he is dry for most of the day and uses the potty 2-3 times. We are really excited to be DIAPER free after 4 years. I almost can't believe it is possible that we wont have anymore diapers. Nicky was fully trained by 2 and a half and Brandon by 3. I'm hoping for a fast start with Luke. Nights will be tougher, but that's OK. he's still little. I am so proud of him. Go LUKEY!!

below are some older posts about the Potty. Keep your fingers cross we will be diaper free soon!

Nicholas Potty Update
Tuesday, April 27, 2010
Last October marked a new milestone for Nicholas. A Big Boy Toilet. A new beginning and endless "Potty Candy". An end in sight for diapers...??

We had no agenda, he's not even 2 yet.  We just provided the toilet and the temptation. (usually marshmallows, m&ms, and jelly beans) Then it faded and he lost all interest. And the toilet sat and collected dust.

Then last week everything changed....Peepee became a hot topic and Nicky started taking his diaper just to dash to the potty and go.  Afterwards, so proud of himself, he runs naked around the house, occasionally jumping with glee, laughing and making sure Daddy knew what he did.

Now we can expect potty usage about 4-5 times a day, however, big boy underwear has no bearing on his decisions to use the potty or not. So we do a lot of wash.

In any case, we are well on our way to being diaper free! Way to Go, Nicky!

Speaking of Poop
Saturday, June 18, 2011
Speaking of poop and potty training, I thought I would share two of the boys favorite books about, well POOP.
It has to be a boy thing...

Anyways, if it helps you potty train, all the better!

The first is Disnosaur vs. The Potty.
It's a simple, colorful book about a Dinosaur who won't go to the potty.
There are lots of sound effects and the boys love when we "Roar" like the Dinosaur.

The second book is called Where's the Poop? - which we read over and over.
The boys raise the flaps to find the poop!
They LOVE it.
This book helps build confidence and shows that all creatures have to poop.
Some even poop orange.
Nicky thinks the penguin poop is the funniest.

Quick Update

Monday, December 5, 2011
A couple things have happend over the last day worth noting...

1. Brandon had a dry diaper all day long. He told us every time he had to go to the potty - B is almost potty trained! We are so proud - but not as much as Brandon is! Pee Pee dance all day long!! woohoo. Way to go Banjo!
2. Nicky was introduced to Harry Potter! I can't wait to read the books to him. The look on his face told me he is going to LOVE them just as mush as I do.

Potty Training Fail

Saturday, June 18, 2011
By two years old, Nicholas was potty trained and in pull ups. I was pleased and liked to take credit. Easy as Pie. However, I'll admit, I did not put too much leg work into it and I have a secret. I have to personally thank Nicky's teachers at Primrose, Miss Crystal and Miss Noemi. They did all the heavy lifting. In fact, by the time he moved up to the Toddler Class (2 years) he was in big boy underpants. THANK YOU, ladies.

Then they changed the policy at Primrose, and the Early Toddler class stopped the potty training introduction before 2. Now that Brandon is out of school, I dread tackling the potty myself. Especially when I go back to work.  And at this point, Brandon could care less. In fact, this {see below} is about how close we get to the potty! I have a feeling I have a long summer ahead of me!

{caution! please view at your own risk}

Thank you, Tiffani Fleming

T H A N K  Y O U Tiffani Fleming
Thank you for introducing me to the "car potty" almost 2 years ago
Thank you, because I bought one the last time I was at Target
for those "just in case" moments
Thank you because today I realized how awesome having a potable potty in your car is.
...stuck in traffic, Nicky was wearing his under pants, no D I A P E R, and about 15 minutes from  home...
Nicky was screaming to go poo poo.
So we pulled over.
And I thanked Tiffani Fleming for being a mom before me!

Could it be?

Could Nicky be *almost* potty trained??
It's been 4 days wearing his BIG BOY PANTS (not pull ups)
at school ....
and NO accidents all day long!!

Poopoo in the Potty.

Wednesday, October 14, 2009
Yesterday marked a new chapter in Potty Training at the Abelings. It has started. We don't have an agenda. And we don't have a time line. We got a potty only because Nicky showed so much interest in the "activity" and he likes to say pee pee and poo poo. It was most likely a fluke, but for me it was a step. a BIG baby step. Yesterday Nicholas told me he had to poo poo. so we ran to the potty. and then it went in the potty. and he got a potty cookie (aka. Chocolate chips) and there was jumping and clapping and all sorts of happiness. And yes, here is a picture.Of Nicky, not the poop.
