How Do You Spell Stupid, Daddy?

Thursday, March 8, 2012
Mommy: Daddy, isn't it time for B-E-D?
Daddy: Yes
Mommy: Nicky, do you know what I just spelled?
Nicky: Nothing
Daddy: Nicky, how do you spell bed?
Nicky: How do you spell stupid, daddy?

wow. sometimes it doesn't get any better than that.

I Love You, Too.

Brandon started off slower than Nicky
We had some challenges with speech
We took him for Early Speech Development testing with the state
but he passed, despite our concerns
He acquired a French accent
which we love
and he blossomed after we took him out of school (who knew?)
He is talking a mile a minute now
and is so happy to parrot back every single thing Nicky says
Lucky us
but he never said "I love you" back
Until tonight
I love you Brandon, right back
to the moon and stars and to infinity and beyond

Nicky has been practicing his alphabet and can spell STOP on a stop sign. I finally got it on camera and had to share!

Nicky Speak

Tuesday, December 7, 2010
At 2 and a half, Nicky has quite the vocabulary, personality, and some one liners that make us laugh. He tends to interchange Why, What, and Where, leaves out participles and verbs...and his pronouns are 1st grade level at best. ;) I thought I would write them all down so we can look back and laugh at our little guy turning into a precocious little man...

That's so silly
Oh Mannnn (typically followed by That's so silly)
I need something
What do you have, Mommy?
What you call this, Mommy?
Where you buy this, Mommy?
What store did you get this Mommy?
What name is it?
You're a cheeseball!
I don't like X...he (she) is mean
I'm a bad boy
Go away, Mommy (this one hurts just a bit)
usually followed by Walk away Mommy.  (again. ouch)
No Nap
Just a two more
He's been saying this one for a while now: No, Thank you. But now he ends it with Brandon. "No Thank You, Brandon" Although he pronounces Brandon "Brannon"

Nicky, you are our little cheeseball and we love you!

16 Months of Awesomeness

Wednesday, November 24, 2010
If Nicky is now 30 months, than Brandon is 16 months. The same age Nicky was when I started writing my blog. I am so glad I have been documenting each month and special milestones - its all worth it. Especially with another coming - I can't wait to recreate some of my favorite pictures again. In January when I make this year's blog into a book, there will be over 300 entries - it's going to be a big book. Last year's was only 58 entries! Sure I only had 4 months worth of writing, but I love going back and reading it. I have to find a new publisher this time, more professional....

Back to B. So last month we expressed some concern about his language development. He's really making progress. He has added many new words, and he can Mama, Dada, eat, wawa, bye bye, hi, and more voluntarily. He can repeat many more words, but still doesn't associate them with anything yet. It's very hard not to compare the 2 boys.  By now, Nicky had so many words, and was even talking in short 2 word sentences. He knew his colors, all the sounds of the animals, and was starting to count, and say ABC's. All the development books and websites say he is right on track and perfect, so I'm sticking with "right on the curve" for now.

Enough of the sappy stuff - here is why Brandon is so awesome. He is seriously such a happy baby. He smiles all the time - and it lights up a room.He is so content to play by himself, which is so refreshing for us. He doesn't need to be held all the time and isn't so clingy or needy. He loves to copy his big brother and tease him. Its quite entertaining to watch them interact.  We can tell B is very gregarious and easy going.  At school he flirts with all the girls, and blows kisses. He is so snuggly and warm. We haven't had to deal with tantrums and whining, he is so calm. He will fuss at times and get mad. And he does have a temper, and its so hard not to smile when hes throwing a fit, but its quick to fade.

He can stack blocks and is pretty agile, although can be a little clumsy at times too. He loves to ride on tricycles and motorized cars. He is really a little daredevil. He is starting to notice what we do and say around Nicky so we have to be more careful. Brandon needs his own special time too. He is starting to enjoy books and flashcards, and loves trains, cars, and Elmo. He loves Yo Gabba Gabba and will dance when it comes on, saying "Gabba Gabba". He likes to clap to the music and in the car the boys "raise the roof and push it out" when we dance to the music. I will have to get it all on  video one of these days. It might possibly be one of the cutest things they do together. Other than fight over who gets to hold my hand in the car. :)

Some logistics about my littlest man...he has the lightest blonde hair and hasn't had a haircut yet. Maybe next month. His eyes are still a grey blue and his is simply perfect. He is still in 12 - 18m, but starting to wear 18 - 24. Shoes size 5 and he LOVES CROCs too. He sleeps through the night 6 out of 7 nights and is so easy to put down. He still loves his favorite blankey and loves to kiss Roxy and Zeus.

Banjo, you are 16 months full of awesomeness. We think the world of you....always and forever.

Words

Banjo doesn't say much....yet
Maybe its because Nicky talks for him or he is happy staying silent
We've been patiently working with him and have seen some progress
Over the last 2 weeks, he has added some new words to his vocabulary
His new words are:
Strawberry
Juice
Up
Apple
More

If you notice, mostly words about FOOD
