The Bluebonnets are coming!

One of my most favorite times of the year!
to be continued...

My Wolf Pack

They are not man children wolves from Twilight
or a group of silly guys from The Hangover
They are my own wolf pack - my three dogs!
Zeus, a 3 year old grumpy, loves cheese and balls, Boston Terrier
Rango, our rescured 1 yr olf Golden Retriever mix, who has the sweetest face ever and is so soft
and Fancy, our 12 week old  littlest little ball of fun and mischief

Its not a very exciting video, but here they are all together.

The Famous Abeling Tail

A common bit of parenting folklore holds that babies tend to look more like their fathers than their mothers, a claim with a reasonable evolutionary explanation. Fathers, after all, do not share a mother's certainty that a baby is theirs, and are more likely to invest whatever resources they have in their own offspring. Human evolution, then, could have favored children that resemble their fathers, at least early on, as a way of confirming paternity.
Well Abelings know their babies are theirs because of their tails.
I'm not sure what happened with Brandon - we don't talk about that ;)

Clapping is fun!

Clapping is one of my favorite milestones. all 8-9 months

Walking = New Hardwood Floors!

Its official when its on video, right?
People always say, you are so lucky when they walk!
well considering he is a humongous 25 pounds, I am glad he is walking
my back is glad he is walking
however he is WALKING!
and he is EVERYWHERE!
and obviously you can not REASON with him
and NO just means that he just tries it again
and laughs
regardless here is to early walkers and the last of crawling at our house!
time for some new hardwood floors Dan!
Yay!

What Brandon Did First

Lately I have noticed things Brandon has accomplished before Nicky. In some case almost a year in advance. I think its been interesting to show the differences in them and how Nicky has helped influence Brandon's development.Love them both for who they are, how they are so different and how much they love and support each other

Brandon stopped wearing a diaper at night  (yay!)
But he was almost 6 months after Nicky to be potty trained
Brandon rode a powered vehicle first
Nicky stayed far far far away from these things and preferred to push his lawn mower
Brandon put his clothes on first
Nicky still needs us to put his clothes on, although he CAN do it. ;)
Brandon put his shoes on first
same - Nicky's such a bogger.
Brandon rode a scooter first
Nicky is so happy riding his Razor scooter he got for Xmas,
but when he was 2, he wouldn't have even attempted to ride one

Dear Luke - 9 months

Dear Luke,
It's been my tradition to write my boys a letter after their monthly wellness check. I don't know what else to say other than you are PERFECT! You are such a joy. You have captured everyone's hearts and your smile is pure delight.

You had your 9 month wellness check on Feb 21st and there was good news to report. You are growing strong and healthy - as if we didn't know!
Weight 25lbs  - 95th percentile
Height: 30 inches - 85th percentile
Head - BIG - 95th percentile

You are bigger, taller, and heavier than the other boys were at 9 months. You blew out of your 6-12 months clothes and I didn't even get to put you in everything. You're in a 12- 18, but can wear up to 24 months already. You are wearing a size 3 shoe or a 12-18 month size.

At 8 months you took your first step, and by 8.5 you were taking 3-5 steps. Now, just 2 weeks later you are walking everywhere - AND you beat Nicky. You are about a month ahead of him and 2 months ahead of Brandon.

Just like Brandon, you have 7 teeth. We didn't know if because your top lip doesn't move very much, but we just found 4 teeth poking through! You eat just about everything now and get very angry when you cant eat what your brothers are eating. You are down to 3-4 bottles and last month you stopped nursing :(

You sleep through the night the the best little sleeper. I had no idea what a baby who sleeps is like. Both Nicky and Brandon have had their moments, but things change over here on a daily basis. For now, we put you down around 6:30 and you get up around 7 am. You take 2 naps - 1 at 930 and then again at 1:30.

You can clap and go up the stairs. You can high five and you love to laugh. Daddy makes you laugh a lot. I love watching Nicky play peek a boo with you. We have graduated you to a big boy car seat and you no longer can fit in the infant one. Syonarah infant stuff! I can not wait to get rid of you. Be GONE!!

You love to play outside with your brothers and have a baby crush on little Kaitlin across the street. Brandon loves to drive you around in his firetruck and you have a blast.

I love you my last little angel. You make us very happy. I love watching you grown and become the man I know you will be. Its hard to say something different to you that I haven't said to the other boys, but know that I love you. Know that you can be and do anything you want. Know that you are special, important, kind, and good. Know that no matter what you do and are, I will never stop loving you.

Dear Brandon, Happy 9 months!

 Dear Brandon,

DSC01642
Happy 9 months, my little man! It feels like it was just yesterday I was driving to the hospital to meet you. I can't believe you are growing so much and so fast and becoming so independent. Over the last nine months, you have collected quite a list of nicknames: Brandy Boy from the ladies at School, Brando from Valerie, BB from Josh. Before you were born I dreamt of you and in my dreams, you were my little Banjo. That's my pet name for you. But your Daddy and I, just love you. Nicky calls you "NO Brandon, Move". That's his way of loving you too.

mar 26 2010 043I also refer to you as the Happiest Baby of the Block. You continue to remind me, that not only were you another gift, but that baby boys can be easy and happy. I am constantly surprised that you like to play by yourself, how easy it is to rock you to sleep, to give you a toy to keep you busy, to HOLD you. and STAY there. It's quite a nice and refreshing change. It lets us chase after your brother!

You had your 9 month wellness check today and there was good news to report. You are growing strong and healthy.

weight 21.8 ounces - 70th percentile
Height: 29 inches - 75th percentile
Head - 46 cm - 70% percentile

DSC02002You have 7 teeth and another poking through. You can't clap yet or high five, but you get SO excited when we ask you to. We'll be working on it.

You're crawling all over, and sometimes when we turn our heads you are half way up the stairs now! Time to get more baby gates! You are enjoying school and doing so well. You are eating lots of solids and finger foods. Your normal schedule is cheerios/life/puffs in the morning before school, and at school you get 2-3 servings of baby food. You love pears and peaches, and yogurt. You also have a special place in your heart for Maddie, a girl at school who you share your treats.

DSC02033

You are starting to cruise and let go. Even stand for a bit by yourself. I captured this video yesterday of you "walking" with Nicky's Dump Truck (we won't tell him)

I am so proud of you my little Banjo. As always I like to see how you are doing in comparison to Nicky. Below are notes I took from his 9 month check up as well as a picture from his 9th month. He was a little stronger, heavier and taller, and already clapping, but we have time. I have no doubt you will shine in your own way. And you already do in our hearts. Never doubt that.

we love you, banjo.

__________________________________________________________________________________

Nicky started clapping and High Fives. he takes a couple steps now and is getting so big. At this last check -up for 9 months he was in the 75% for height, 85% from weight (up from 70% at 6 months) and still in the 40% for head. He has gained some weight and is really filled out. His weighs about 22 pounds now.

Happy Smile!

Welcome Miss Francesca Ruby Abeling

Meet Fancy, our newest addition. After months of debating and searching, I found the this little lady at a breeder in Arkansas. I spent about 2 weeks verifying that she was legitimate, that I wouldn't get scammed, and that the doggie I saw on the advertisement was the same dog I was going to get when she arrived to me. I had no luck finding a puppy with another blue eye, but that's ok. I think the fact that she doesn't look like Roxy Roo will help.

Two weeks earlier, dan's sister Alex happened to find an almost IDENTICAL little brown Boston, she named Louie or Lulu. They could be twins right to the very same spot on their heads.

The breeder had fancy driven out to Texas - these types of dogs don't do well on an airplane. When Fancy arrived, she was about 5.5 pounds and I instantly fell in love. She was born on December 6th and has quite the personality. For about 2 hours her name was Pixie Rubydust per Nicky, however Dan overruled and we named her Fancy. Miss Francesca Ruby Abeling, to be exact.

I am sure there will be more posts about her in the days and years to come. She has made me so very happy and she loves Rango and Zeus. Zeus can not be bothered. here she is! And YES, that means we have three dogs and three kids.

Hello March

It's March 1st (2nd now) and I haven't written in a while. Feb was a very busy month for me. Work was crazy and it kept me busy every day and all night long. I also haven't felt inspired but my guilty conscious has brought me back to Abelingland - I know I will never forgive myself if I stop now.

So much has happened in the last month - I exited January, preparing for three big work events in Las Vegas for VMware's Partner Exchange and I was swamped and drowning. I spent the remaining hours I had with the boys or searching for a new puppy. I pulled the trigger at the end of January and bought a new puppy. Her name was "Salah" and I knew when I saw her she was perfect. She was different enough from Roxy, but still had some of the features I love about the breed. More on her later.

On Feb 10th, my mom turned 65, Nicholas became 2 months closer to 4 years old, and Brandon celebrated his 32nd month birthday! We all hopped on a plane and headed out to Vegas for the weekend to celebrate. It was also Papa Ray's birthday and we met Dan's sister Alex and brother FA in Vegas for a great weekend of gambling, food, and more gambling!

See what's been going on in pictures below...every Monday my friends who blog, do a "Hello Monday"  - where they post ~ 10 pictures about their lives and I thought that its a fun way to capture special moments. So see you on Mondays!
