My Mighty Life List - Phase 1

Thursday, June 14, 2012
=)

Is this a bucket list? Maybe...although I would like to *think* I can cross everything off at some point, I think my personal goal of this little life challenge is to learn more about me  - the silly, the frivolous, the absurd;  my dreams, wishes, and goals, and many many different ways to capture that elusive happiness.

I was inspired by one of my favorite blogs  {Little Miss Momma} and she was inspired by {PetiteElefant} and her by {Mighty Girl}. Like everyone else who has tired to accomplish this, its not that easy to write down 100. I got to 35 before I started really thinking and stretching. I realized that I have a lot of things I want to do - most Dan will say NO. ha.

Here is number ONE

1. Adopt a baby girl from Russia

Ok - you all knew that. Here is 1 more...

2. Live in Italy

Stay tuned for the rest. Do you have a bucket list of a life list??! share with me!!

dreams be dreams

Secrets of Abelingland - Choose Happiness

Friday, June 8, 2012
We were driving home from our anniversary weekend and I started to feel sad and depressed
We had just stopped at Toys R Us to get the boys a present
{shocker}
and Dan looked at me and basically said
"what the F do you have to be sad about?#@!!"
jerk.
No, just kidding,
He said, "Vic look, you have to choose to be happy."
I sat there pouting.
I hate when he is right
But I did.
And its actually addicting and a therapy in its own right
Singing in the shower, listening to "spa" music, and complying with that promise I made weeks ago help too

So I choose Happiness

Darth Vader & Son

I bought this book for Luke
More Star Wars cliches
It's called Darth Vader and Son
and it is so funny.
I love it.
I am about to decorate his room all "From a Galaxy Far Far away..."

Lucky SEVEN

2 years ago we began a little tradition for our anniversary. A Staycation. In Austin. At the Four Seasons. The first year was AH-Mazing, primarily because it was our first time away from Nicky and Brandon and we slept in! ha.

Last year,  I had a 2 week old {Luke} and we stayed home, although I probably wished I was far far away.

This year we got lucky. We had help! Grandma Booba and Papa Bob signed up to watch all THREE! Yipee!! We booked another suite at the Seasons and got a jump start on our vacation.

We started off with a late lunch at Taverna, and walked around second street. We made it to the pool by 3 and spent the rest of the afternoon poolside. We had a great dinner at Second Street Bar and Grill, but the highlight of the day had to be the in-room movie we watched - 21 Jump Street - seriously. SO funny. We laughed for 2 hour straight. Highly recommend it.

Saturday morning, we got up and walked to Joe's for some coffee and eats. Tricia, my partner in crime, met us at the pool, and we proceeded to drink until 4 pm. It was a great day relaxing, making fun of Dan's new wool "eminem" hat and made some new friends visiting Austin.

Dinner was delicious at Vespaio on South Congress. Before we ate, there was a tiny flea market and  I randomly met a vendor I had previously found on Etsy!  How weird, right?? Plaid Pigeon, makes these awesome cool colorful Dinosaur succulent planters. I bought 4 of them for Nicky's party. They never made an appearance, but they are so neato.

We watched Contagion. Sunday morning, we had crepes that would have been perfect if they had real whip cream. but we survived.

My mom was planning on taking the boys to Ella's birthday , but we headed home to surprise them and took all three ourselves. It was a great anniversary, special anniversary weekend, and so special to celebrate it with the one I love.

Happy Seven Years and to 700 more! and special thanks to Grandma and Papa!!

Backyard Project

It was time to do something about the backyard
the draught killed our grass, and the weeds took over
I hated even spending time in the backyard and it reminded me of a sad little place
so we decided to make a space where we can bring our "playtime" and freetime into the backyard
while we arent doing a pool yet, our design gives us that option in a couple of years
We are putting in a new flagstone patio and a wide decomposed granite pathway to take you to the back of the house
Most of the landscape will be low maintenance or Xeriscape
We removed about 80% of our grass foot print
And you know, because Dan is a horticulturist, botanist, and natural Gardner  - We {Dan, the boys, and I} will spend the next couple of months doing all the planting and gardening projects together.
And you all know how much I adore manual labor.
Anyway, here are some pictures of the first phase of work!

Tantrum Glory!!

Tantrums meet Luke
Luke meet Tantrums
Tantrums come in all shapes and sizes
Everything can trigger it
but NO...
"NO" reigns supreme.
and
OH the DRAMA!
dramadramadrama!
Behold Luke in all his tantrum glory

For Fathers Day. And it's the cutest, sweetest, most adorable gift ever. Just reason #430 why I love Tiffany. And why this may be Dan's best fathers day ever.
