Men in Uniform

Part of Brandon's therapy is to have more alone dates without Nicky to help build his confidence and speech. We believe his class mates tend to ignore him because they can't understand and there are 30 other kids in his class to play with. When they come and play with Nicky present, Nick can dominate the situation and the other kids gravitate to him. This is fine in theory, but then Brandon assumes a follower role and let's Nicky run the show. Kinda like Val and I. Haha. Anyways, we've started having 1x1 play dates with kids in his class. This has helped tremendously. He has more confidence and he talks about friends now! He tells stories and interacts better using his imagination and thoughts.
Yesterday was Good Friday and the boys were off. Brandon was invited over to a friends house I play.

Here are the boys patrolling the neighborhood!

Attention Tooth Fairy!

Wednesday, March 27, 2013
"A child's baby teeth (primary teeth) begin to loosen and fall out on their own to make room for permanent teeth at about age 6. Timing can vary, though, and girls generally lose baby teeth earlier than do boys. The last baby teeth typically fall out by age 12 or 13."

Nicky has his first loose tooth!

at the age of 4!!!
I guess this is to be expected.
he got his first tooth at 14 weeks!
and had 6 teeth by 6 months.

I need to know the going rate for a lost tooth!
He is so proud!
I can't wait for our first tooth fairy visit

Enough Said.

Tiffy & Brandy Boy's Breakfast Date

Tiffy helps me out every morning and helps me get the boys ready. On Tuesday and Thursday, Tiff takes Brandon to Puppy School. This week Brandon is going 4 days to get some extra help. Today she posted some pictures to Facebook and I love seeing how happy they are together. I've said this before, but she is family.  Knowing that someone loves my boys as much as I do and gives them happiness, is a gift. Thank you Tiffy. I will never be able to repay you for what you have given to me and the boys.

From the Archives - Brandy Boy is 2

Monday, March 25, 2013
I was looking for a "Happy Birthday" picture to email to one of my co-workers, so I googled the words and randomly this picture of Brandon came up. I remember taking it. It was the night before he turned 2. He loved wearing these goggles. He was so into tools, ficxing things, and such a happy little boy. I love looking back and finding a picture from the archives. Thinking of you today my little Brandy Boy. xoxoxox

The Blanket Post

Sunday, March 24, 2013
Most little kids I know have a dirty blanket training after them
They love the tags, the fleece, the fur..
they sleep with them
take them to school
take them to the mall
and we frantically wash them
daily and weekly
because are petri dishes of germs and the plague

My boys are no different.
Each one has had different blanket to sleep with
Nicky started his young life with Angel Dears.
soft cashmere like animal blankets that littered our house
he LOVED them
He called them BAYS.
{see older posts below}

Then one day he found my Brookstone PINK nap blanket I bought in LAX on my Honeymoon
and I never got it back.
Sooooo, my oldest son has a pink blanket that he sleeps with
every night I have to help him find the tag
so he can hold it as he drifts off to sleep
we've had to sew it back on 2 times

Brandon got this little fleece blanket from our friends Shannon and Steve
He's slept with it for almost 4 years now
its getting ratty and I an not sure what we will do without it.

Luke has 4 blankets he sleeps with - 3 of them are Little Giraffe squares
and then a grey dot blanket from Melissa and Craig.
He has to sleep on top of one of them and then holds the other two squares.
Then I have to place the grey blanket over him at night.
Hes the only one of my kids that let me "tuck" them in at night.

These are their blankets
These are their comfort when the lights turn off, when the noise machine comes on, as they drift to sleep.
Thank you Blankets.

NICKY REALLY LOVES HIS...

NICKY'S NAPTIME

Tuesday, July 19, 2011
Nicky doesn't like to nap. We have given up putting him down for nap on the weekends. But now that he is home during the day, its been a challenge for our Nanny to get him to sleep. He has STALLING down to a science.

More milk, I have to pee, I have to poop, read me a story, lets crash things, what's outside, I think I heard some thunder, is that a spider...I could go on.

Latley, she has been letting him have "quiet time" in his room rather than nap. That basically means we hold our breath to see what he does. Surprisingly -  he plays in his room! he reads! he uses his imagination! We're successful! Yay!

AND after about 20 minutes he usually falls asleep! {and relax}

I went upstairs the other day to wake him up after he slept {for 3 hours!} and this is what I found.
Some bedtime nap buddies: a Hot Wheels race car track, a handful of Moto action figures, the bikes, and some monster trucks.
So happy.
So alseep.
So boy.
with a pink blanket.

FaceTime

12 years ago worked for a company called FaceTime
alas! NOT THAT FACETIME
Unfortunately, we were not bought by Apple
I am not a millionaire because of it
We were an Instant Messaging company
with a before its time a cool name, a before its time cool product, and some of the coolest people...
{Hello Twells & Adavis!!xo)
Including where I met my husband.
Now I no longer work for Facetime, but  I FaceTime on a daily basis
to see my nephew Jack, my niece Finely
and let Zeus and Draco have a little chat
Thank you Technology!

{Nicky and I approving Finely's Easter dress with BOW of course}

{Draco and Zeus having a little discussion about the weather}

Daddy Books

Father's Day was 9 Months ago. I'm just a little behind. Last Father's Day, the boys made Dan little personalized books. Tiffy helped them put the books together, but they wrote the stories and helped put the pictures together. I FINALLY took pictures and want to share them.

Honeymoon Friends!

8 years ago, Dan and I were laying out by the pool in Bora Bora and we struck up conversation with a couple next to us. They got married the same day we did and live in DC. We realized we had a lot in common and hung out for the rest of the week. By the end of 5 day the 4 of us were fast friends and made a pact to stay in touch.
Niki and Bryant may have left Bora Bora the same day we did, but we left as friends. We've stayed in touch over the years and we have plans for a 10 yr anniversary reunion in 2015!
Between us, we have 6 boys! One day we will get them all together and enjoy watching new friendships blossom.
Now that I cover the federal space at VMware, I travel to Reston 1-2 times a quarter. And how fun it has been that we have been able to meet up - 8 years later and more fabulous than ever! This is Niki and I last month in DC.

Fabulous and 40

One of my best friends turned 40 in jan. We celebrated with lots of pink and a photobooth. I ordered her an ombré cake with lots of ruffles. Perfect, just like her.
All I know is that I want to look that good when I turn 40!
Love you TM. Xoxoxoxox

A Letter from Luke

Yesterday we got this cute little letter from Luke's teachers. Luke is ready for Potty training! at 22 months! We are so excited. At school he is dry for most of the day and uses the potty 2-3 times. We are really excited to be DIAPER free after 4 years. I almost can't believe it is possible that we wont have anymore diapers. Nicky was fully trained by 2 and a half and Brandon by 3. I'm hoping for a fast start with Luke. Nights will be tougher, but that's OK. he's still little. I am so proud of him. Go LUKEY!!

below are some older posts about the Potty. Keep your fingers cross we will be diaper free soon!

Nicholas Potty Update
Tuesday, April 27, 2010
Last October marked a new milestone for Nicholas. A Big Boy Toilet. A new beginning and endless "Potty Candy". An end in sight for diapers...??

We had no agenda, he's not even 2 yet.  We just provided the toilet and the temptation. (usually marshmallows, m&ms, and jelly beans) Then it faded and he lost all interest. And the toilet sat and collected dust.

Then last week everything changed....Peepee became a hot topic and Nicky started taking his diaper just to dash to the potty and go.  Afterwards, so proud of himself, he runs naked around the house, occasionally jumping with glee, laughing and making sure Daddy knew what he did.

Now we can expect potty usage about 4-5 times a day, however, big boy underwear has no bearing on his decisions to use the potty or not. So we do a lot of wash.

In any case, we are well on our way to being diaper free! Way to Go, Nicky!

Speaking of Poop
Saturday, June 18, 2011
Speaking of poop and potty training, I thought I would share two of the boys favorite books about, well POOP.
It has to be a boy thing...

Anyways, if it helps you potty train, all the better!

The first is Disnosaur vs. The Potty.
It's a simple, colorful book about a Dinosaur who won't go to the potty.
There are lots of sound effects and the boys love when we "Roar" like the Dinosaur.

The second book is called Where's the Poop? - which we read over and over.
The boys raise the flaps to find the poop!
They LOVE it.
This book helps build confidence and shows that all creatures have to poop.
Some even poop orange.
Nicky thinks the penguin poop is the funniest.
